Short Stack Five Short Stories (Audible Audio Edition) Bill Bernico Richard Henzel Downwind Publications Books

Overall I liked this collection. However, I am only giving it 3 stars instead of 4 because I had already read 2 of the stories in other collections. It seems to me that it would not be that hard to put together a collection of entirely different stories when the author has written so many. And I know this because I have a collection with 150 of his stories. So why do 2 of these have to be duplicates of other collections? I took off a star for that.

Anything for a Sale (also in the collection Cheater's Dozen): Just how far would you go - what crazy thing would you do - to make a sale? Probably not as far as this story. But what if it was just crazy enough to work?

Ashes to Ashes: This is the third collection I have read by Bernico, and this is absolutely my favorite story so far! Gilbert and his sister, Ernestine, share a house and complain to each other about a rash of burglaries in the area. Ernestine says if she could "get her hands on the thieves, she'd show 'em". They're both tired of all the bad news in the paper, and Ernestine wants to personally be able to give people a reason to smile.

It's a Wonderful Death: Good thing the last one was my favorite because this one is almost the polar opposite. I don't hate it, but I certainly wouldn't embrace it. Although I saw the end coming, I was hoping I was wrong.

On the Lam (also part of the collection Cheater's Dozen): Elmer was missing when it came time for the noon meal count at the Rest Easy Nursing Home. Follow the all out search as staff, security, and local police try to locate the senior citizen. Shouldn't be that hard. How far can an elderly gentleman get? After all, he doesn't have a car so even if he walked out the door....

Whoops: Gonna be another favorite! When you are out for payback, better be sure you know what you're doing.

Short Stack Five Short Stories (Audible Audio Edition) Bill Bernico Richard Henzel Downwind Publications Books Reviews

bill bernico's books are great reading. not to long, not to violent, not vulgar. bill - you are doing a great job, keep it up, and thanks for the hours of enjoyment.
One of my first short packs. Read all the multi-packs and shorts packs long ago, since 2012. The author has gotten better with age/practice. I've read almost all of the Cooper stories (1 - 230) and several of Mr. Bernico's short stories and most have not disappointed me. You'll find some poorly written or predictable stories, but for the most part they are fair to good. The Cooper series are better, but there's a few stinkers, too. They're great for a coffee break or a few minutes to relax.
